Whale? What Whale? Watching
Last week Nathan and I went whale watching. (At least, I think it was last week. The days are REALLY running together now.) It was...underwhelming. When Nathan went, he saw humpbacks. Those are the ones that will jump and put on a show. So he had a great time. When we went, we saw blue whales. At first, I was thrilled when the dude-in-charge said they had been spotted and that's where we were headed. Blue whales are the biggest animal on earth. They are even bigger than the dinosaurs were. What is not cool about that? Problem is, because they are so big, they don't do much. We would see them spout out their blowhole--looks like smoke or steam. Then you would see a gray blob head back down into the ocean. The gray blob isn't even that large--it's just a portion of their back. And that's it. Show's over. It really was one of the most boring things I've ever done. Disappointing, to say the least. Couldn't even really take pictures 'cause you wouldn't be able to see the difference between the water and the whale. And Nathan was sick half the time on top of that. The one good thing was he didn't throw up this time. It's all about baby steps...
Here's the best picture I took. ;)
