Update to This Morning

Well, I tried to stand up for conservative/borderline libertarians everywhere, and I failed. I was absolutely slammed in the forum I was talking about earlier. It's funny. One person posted wondering why the Right isn't standing up for itself. Well, perhaps that person should read back in the postings, and then they might have a clue. I was absolutely attacked. I decided to post a final, "last stand" type of message and not visit there anymore. I said what I believed, but they are clearly not in the mood to listen to a differing viewpoint. Sad really.

And what really surprised me is that this a forum for people affiliated with the military. I thought that most military-types were more conservative than liberal. Out of 23 posts, (about 4 of which were mine), there was only one other person who considered themselves conservative. For the first time, I got a taste of what living in Cali will be like! I've always been in either Texas or Utah, so this is a new feeling. I just have to try to remember that the health care plan has stalled for a reason. While I felt very alone today, there are enough people like me to make Washington stop and think for a minute. We haven't won yet, but at least there's more of us out there than it feels like sometimes!

  1. Keep standing strong. It's almost ludicrous to me, though, that people can't see how the welfare state doesn't work. Look at Cali, for instance. Their economy is a train wreck. It's only a matter of time before everything falls through. Why are they in the situation they are in? Because they have taken on too many entitlement programs and they can't sustain them. Why is this hard to understand? Voting to take money from someone else (taxes) in order to give it to the less fortunate or a gov't program is not charity, it's coercion, but you knew that anyway. Too bad more people don't :)
