When I woke up this morning, my dad was watching the news. I probably don't need to exercise today, as my heart rate is WAY up! I just hate the direction this country is heading in. Here's my list of "What are they thinking?" from the 15 minutes I watched:
1. I hate everything about this Cap and Trade junk, but most notably is the fact that it is retroactive. My feelings are that the words "retroactive" and "government" should never go together. We as citizens can't go about our daily lives in fear of making a mistake according to future rules. In this case, homes that don't fit today's standards would have to be fixed before they can be sold, i.e. if you don't have double-paned windows you will need to put them in. Windows are very expensive, and it should be your CHOICE as a homeowner whether or not to put them in.
2. Why on earth would we need a "pay czar?" What is so wrong with making money these days? Now, some of these companies were ridiculously irresponsible, but that is something the market should correct. Customers hear about these terrible expenditures, customers choose a different business, now there's no more money to spend. Is it a perfect system? No. Is it the best system out there? Definitely. But apparently Washington doesn't think so, because they are doing everything they can to change it. And don't even get me started on the stimulus stuff that made this problem even worse!
3. Going back to Cap and Trade. Some pundit's argument was that all this new legislation shouldn't be introduced all at once but piece by piece. Piece by piece? Is that supposed to make me feel better about a bunch of new and retroactive rules that are going to cost me much, much, much more money than I want to spend? Especially when it's supposedly all to help stop global warming which I'm not even sure really exists? I don't think so! How about no pieces at all instead?
I think with all the exclamation points you can see why I'm not sure exercise is necessary today. I should measure my heart rate to see where it is!
