The Great Jam Explosion

A couple days ago, I went into the pantry to get Wen a treat. I didn't turn on the light as I know exactly where they are and I can just grab and go. When I grabbed, my hand landed in something warm and squishy. I was horrified because I couldn't see what it was. My mind was coming up with all sorts of options, none of which were logical. Dead, squishy bugs? Not likely. Throw up? Who would throw up in the pantry on a high shelf? It didn't matter how stupid the idea was, I thought of them all.

As the title would indicate, it was nothing that drastic. Somehow, one of my homemade jars of jam exploded. Nathan has theorized that the jar didn't seal properly and the jam fermented and then "BOOM!" We don't really know, but I guess that theory's as good as any other. Better, really, since we don't have any others! Jam was all over the right side of the shelf including the underneath of the shelf above it. It was on the wall. There was even a small spot on the door about a foot above the jar! Here is the photographic evidence of the disaster and how widespread it was.
