This month, Nathan's parents came to visit us. While they were here, we went to a Parks and Rec class on tidal pools. They weren't quite as exciting as I had hoped, but we still had fun. After that, we went to the Coast Guard Jetty and watched the seals. They have endless power to amuse me--I really could watch them all day. Except they stink really bad, so maybe not! (Due to my lack of talent when dealing with Blogger, the pics are out of order. I'm afraid if I try to move them, I'll delete them on accident like I am VERY prone to do. So I'm leaving them as is!)
I think this is my favorite seal picture so far. I love how far back his head is bent!
If you watch the seals out in the ocean, you'll tons of flippers sticking up. If I remember right, it's so they can warm up.
The most fascinating thing about the tidal pools was the green anemone. If you look on the rocks, there are these clumps of shells. We all thought it was just random shells like you find on any beach. Come to find out, that is actually the outside of the green anemone, which has sticky tentacles and to catches all that debris as camouflage and protection.
I know we had posed pictures of all of us actually facing the camera, but I seem to have lost them. :( Luckily, I'm pretty Roger and Maxine have some that can be e-mailed (pretty please?).
