Cookie Sheets
I am not a gourmet cook. I'm not an award-winning baker. But I do love my cookies and other sweets (hence the resolution to lose weight :) ). When we first moved out to Cali and made the obligatory "just moved" trip to Wal-Mart, I bought some new cookie sheets. My old ones were never that nice to begin with and rather beat up at this point. Being extremely short on funds, I chose the cheap pack of 3. After months of using them, I am finally ready to diagnose a baking problem I'm having: these cookie sheets are burning the bottoms and not cooking the top. To test my theory, I pulled out the old beat-up ones (I'm a packrat and never threw them out) and tried those tonight for my chocolate chip cookies. Sure enough, I managed to make cookies that were NOT burned on the bottom for the first time in months! Which brings me to a question: Who wants to buy me new cookie sheets? Just kidding! The real question is: Does anyone have a preferred brand of cookie sheets they use that aren't going to cost me and a leg? I know my mom has a favorite, but I think they are pretty pricey. I'm up for suggestions!

I don't know how much these cost since they were given to us from Jared's parents but I LOVE our deeper "cookie sheets" which I think would be technically called something else because of their depth. All I know is that they cook evenly without ever burning cookies and the best part--because they're deep, they can double for what I think are called sheet pans. (what you cook spice cake in) I don't know if that helps at all. lol I just love functionality so thought I'd try to share my advice. :)
ReplyDeleteI have the same awful cookie sheets and the same problem. I have 1 nice cookie sheet by oneida (sp?) which I love, and it wasn't too bad on price - I think $12 for just the one medium sized one. Haven't bothered to get any more nice ones yet, though maybe I'll do that this year since last year I finally bought good pots. Good luck and let me know what you find out. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we must've gotten the same cookie sheets that Lindsey and Jared have because they came from the Havican parent's as well. And we love them too! They never burn anything and are a nice size too. I will email DeAnn and see if she remembers where she got them and get back to you.
ReplyDeleteOk so DeAnn emailed me back and she bought them in a pack of two at Sam's club for only 10.75!! Not bad right?? And they work like a charm!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the great info! Cookie sheets have now been added to my ongoing wish list!
